There were some very interesting contributions to the Shoebox and, in this case, rather unusual as well because it was a gentleman who sent in some very handsome pieces of jewelry made of polymer clay. Carl Johengen of Rochester, N.Y., sent in photographs of his work, a couple of samples of his work, and a letter gently chastising me for frequently referring to the "ladies" in the audience when he is sure that there are other men like himself who watch. He is right, of course, and I am duly apologetic. I am also appreciative of his contributions because his pieces were lovely to see. Polymer clay does seem to be a media that interests a number of men.

Quite in contrast is the suggestion that Mildred Lumpkin of Deland, Fla., contributed. Mildred is a crocheter and has solved the problem of having the balls of yarn and crochet thread run around on the floor. She uses a plastic cylinder shaped container, the kind that the dampened hand towels or wipes for the baby are frequently packaged in. They have screw on tops with an X-shaped cut in the middle that is perfect for the yarn to feed through. Good tip for both knit and crochet fans!
